Current Sermon Series- The Bible Jesus Read

May 20-August 26: This spring and summer we will take a long deep dive into the treasured passages and stories from the Old Testament. Despite the fact that these texts are over two thousand years old, we will find that they are remarkably relevant and meaningful in our modern age. They have proven valuable to countless millions, and they can serve for our instruction as well.
These are the stories that Jesus heard and studied as he matured. From them both he and the early disciples drew their inspiration, courage, and values. Plan to be with us for each message in this series.

Pastor Jody's Sabbatical

Pastor Jody Skogen, our Pastor of Disciple-making and Family Ministries, is currently on a 3-month sabbatical. This sabbatical has been scheduled for two years, as a part of her letter of call in 2016. Consideration was gven to the timing of this sabbatical after Pastor Perry's departure, but with the benefit of Pastor Dean's leadership during this transition time, it was felt that this summer would be the best time for her sabbatical.

Pastor Jody will be taking time for rest, reflection, re-tooling, and revitalization, and we are excited for her to do this in order that she might continue to effectively serve the Kingdom and our St. Mark's church family.

While she is away, please contact these staff according to ministry needs:

  • Sarah Bartlett for small groups and disciple-making
  • Jenny Lensch for Middle School Ministries
  • Pastor Dean or Pastor Steve for pastoral needs

During the time of sabbatical, we ask the congregation to respect her time away and refrain from phone calls, emails, requests for visits, etc., for full rest to occur. Please consider praying for all of our staff, and Pastor Jody, in these months ahead! She will return on Monday, August 20.

A note from Pastor Jody

St. Mark’s Family,
I am so thankful for the opportunity to take this second sabbatical since my time serving among you beginning 15 years ago. I know that this will be a time of refreshment as I spend some extended time with my family and with the Lord. I am eager to hear His voice and know that this time away certainly allows for this in a special way. My hope is to grow in my understanding and practice of Sabbath. God desires that we spend time with Him, listening to His voice, reading His Word, listening to His encouragement and heeding His direction. I can’t wait for more opportunity for this! Because the Lord desires to disciple each of us, I am eager to be led and grow in my own discipleship. Please pray for me, and our incredible staff, during this time.
In Christ,
Pastor Jody

Open Prayer Meetings Every Thursday

Come and pray for our congregation and ministries! All are invited to join and experience the Open Prayer Meeting every Thursday from 12:00 to 1:45 pm in the Prayer Room in the South Hallway.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. - Philippians 4:6-7 (NIV)
